I've always been a huge component of getting the most out of your wardrobe. It has never made sense to me to buy an outfit and only wear it once. That is a total waste of a perfectly good outfit; however, one cannot dare to walk into a room wearing the same outfit, styled the exact same way. That, my friends, is definitely a fashion NO-NO! The only item that you should ever buy to only wear once is your wedding dress. And, even then, you can get creative. You have to think outside the box. When making a purchase, think about all your options. How can you mix and match? If you change up the accessories, will it make the dress look entirely different? If you are answering yes to these questions, then it's a purchase well worth it. Maximizing your options on good quality pieces will save you money a lot of money over the years!

This is a great look for the Mother of the Bride (or groom) for that special day but it can also be worn as separates in so many ways. Put the jacket with a pair of white skinny jeans and flats for a fun, trendy look. Throw a chunky sweater over the dress with some a pair of strappy sandals for a more casual look.

Here is another great Mother of the Bride (or groom) look perfect for the wedding luncheon or the bridal shower. Again split these pieces up later and wear them separately. Pair the jacket with a white pencil skirt for a tailored, girly look. Wear the dress again alone for a different occasion....I mean really, this dress is easily a stand alone piece for sure!

Here is a perfect example of taking one dress and completely changing its look by switching up the accessories. The look on the left is perfect for an evening cocktail event while the look on the right is great for a day party or evening pool party. Still you can change the dress up even more by keeping it simple and putting it with a nude pump and simple jewelry for the office, or throwing on a cashmere cardigan and taking it into the cooler weather.
Have fun with all your options! Day to night, business to casual, separate two piece suiting...there are so many ways to mix and match and accessorize. Do not wear a piece one time and feel like its worn its welcome. Get the most bang for your buck, and wear it time and time again!
In today's society not too many women are interested in "the suit". Don't get me wrong, a great suit is always an essential but mixing and matching is the way to go plus it maximizes your wardrobe options with just a few pieces. I always tell my clients that a great pair of black pants and a black blouse are must haves in your closet. You can wear them together for a chic office look or pair them back with your suit jackets, skirts and other blouses to create an entire capsule of options!
