As you all know (or maybe you don’t), we are two women whose business revolves around one’s image. Naturally, because we are women, we gravitate towards helping other women. Although we love our male clients too, we get more pride out of helping other women look and feel their best, get them organized in the home and office, and basically, help improve their overall image. We have been working on a blog post about young professional women but since the recent election, we felt the need to expand and reach out to all women.
Now this post is not about the election or its results but more about some behaviors we have seen during the election and after its results.
No matter what the results were of the election, it does not mean that as women, we are doomed. Sure, Trump said some awful comments about women but we are not going to let that stop us from being smart, successful women. Hillary could have been the first female President of the United States but she too, was flawed. So we are going to move on, put our 100% support behind our President for the better of our great country, and wait for the right woman to come along to be the first female President of the United States.
Here’s how you do that: FIGHT BACK. And not by holding up a sign while marching down the street or crying defeat in the camera, but by fighting back in a strong and classy way. We know that it is our right to protest; however, we are just not convinced that type of protest actually makes a difference. The type of protest that does make a difference is education. So educate yourselves. Get up every day, and work hard towards your goals. Never give up. If you are offended by what a man (or anyone) says then prove them wrong. Do not give them more ammo.
If we as women want to be treated the same as men in the workplace then we have to “be” men in the workplace. Now we know that this statement may strike some nerves but we stand behind it. Just hear us out. Lets toughen up ladies. Do not dish it out, if you cannot take it. Remember when you’re Mom told you as a child that if someone said something mean to you, you should say back to them, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me”? Well, that still applies even as adults except you don’t literally say that out loud to someone but we highly recommend saying it to yourself in your head....over and over. Words are words. Sure they hurt, and yes, mean things should not be said but unfortunately, that will never change.
There will always be mean people that say and do mean things. What will set you apart is how you REACT to these situations. You can kick and scream or you can prove them wrong. We will tell you the latter is much more becoming. We actually saw a video of a lady defecating on the street and then pick it up and smear it on a Trump sign. Ewww, ewww and ewww....We can PROMISE this kind of behavior will get us women nowhere!
So please, ladies, whether you are a stay-at-home Mom or the CEO of a major corporation, you must be strong, bold and beautiful. In order to be these, we have to be educated, humble and healthy. Read as much as you can, take a walk, ENJOY your children, bond with your pets, work hard, indulge in a hobby, learn from your experiences and others, love your significant other, volunteer your time to charity, SUPPORT EACH OTHER….live your life to the fullest. Now, that is an image that all women can be proud of. Always be a fighter. Always a survivor. Who knows...maybe YOU will be the first female President of the United States of America. THAT is inspiring!
As always, if you need help improving your image, then Contact us today! What?!? We have children to feed; we are fighting back by working hard! And please, please if you do become the President of the United States, remember us. We would DIE to be your stylist!!!! We love you all! Go get em!
